Towards Great Haywood On The Staffs & Worcs Canal

NB Bendigedig at Autherley Lock

Turn left for Great Haywood!

Bye Bye Shroppie

Leaving our mooring near Bridge 8 we made our way towards Autherley Junction in the sunshine, Ben and I had a walk too. At the lock Eric pulled in before all the moored hire boats while I got the lock ready. Just an few inches difference in levels between the Shroppie and the Staffs and Worcs Canal so a quick one to get through although you're sometimes unsure which paddles to open to level the water. Turn left for Great Haywood today under the bridge and an awkward turn for a long boat but room today as nothing was coming.

The narrows to get through at 'Pendeford Rockin' the old boatman's name for the shallow narrow cutting hewn through a solid band of sandstone. Lucky  today we didn't have to pull in to a passing places as we didn't meet a boat, under the M54  and onto Coven. We moored passed 'The Fox and Anchor' in the sunshine to give the solar panels some sun.  Lovely and quiet except for the occasional train passing by on a nearby line.
